Common Food Myths in Fact and Fiction

It's commonly recognized that eating may drastically affect your health. Given that, many of us watch what we eat.   

We restrict processed sugars, salts, and fats and chose foods with flavor and nutrients.  

We use nutrition scientists to determine whether foods are healthy, but sometimes they don't have all the facts.  

Negative calorie foods became popular in the early 1990s as a simple yet efficient weight loss method.

The notion was that low-calorie meals consumed more calories to digest than they contained.   

Negative-calorie foods include celery, lettuce, broccoli, and cucumber, which are heavy in water.   

Although not foods, cold water and chewing gum are often considered “negative calorie foods.
